These flowers were domesticated in ancient China, although it is not clear exactly when. The oldest documents in which they are mentioned date back to the 5th century BC. e., and the world-famous Chinese philosopher Confucius wrote about them. They came to Europe in 1689, but the seedlings died, and it was possible to bring in chrysanthemums that would take root only exactly 100 years after that moment.
